This is a fantastic book to gently introduce to children that they are secure and can feel connected, even when a parent, or someone they love, can’t be with them. It tells a bedtime story around feeling wrapped in the colours of the rainbow and finishes with a delightful rainbow ritual which encourages people to ‘throw a rainbow’ to each other’s hearts. Perfect if you need to go into hospital, or there are other reasons keeping children apart from those they love (such as geography, divorce, death or travel).

Having learnt about the books from a wonderful retreat at Quest for Life, Jemma has used the rainbow books and other resources with many children and families (including her own). Kids (even teenage boys!) love the concept of the rainbows connecting us, heart to heart.

As the (one and only) Petrea King (founder of Quest) aptly puts it “people don’t have baggage with rainbows”. So true. Even Kermit asked “why are there so many songs about rainbows?” and he’s an astute fellow. J&J xx

You, Me & the Rainbow is beautifully illustrated by well-known artist Patricia Howell.
